Ask any of the greats...

Growth comes from experimentation with new styles and fresh materials.

Not only will you have fun, you’ll see breakthroughs no matter what style of painting you do.

You’re about to discover the fun and flexibility acrylic paints have to offer!

Your Cruise Director

On a ship … it’s the cruise director who makes sure you’re having fun. Here, right now, artist Karen Knutson is leading your new fun and experimentation.

And if you’re not familiar with acrylics, you may be surprised to find they are the perfect tool for experimentation. They dry fast, and you can create some techniques you can’t accomplish in any other medium.

And who needs brushes? Sticks and stones may break your bones, but they make fabulous tools for painting and play!

Klimt Would Be Proud

Plus, Karen has figured out just what made Gustav Klimt such a creative painter, and she shares those secrets with you.

In this brand new video, Fun with Acrylics, Karen will prove to you how fabulous things come from experimenting with acrylics. The video is nearly two hours of fun and refreshing study with Karen!

Karen describes herself as an archaeologist — piling layers upon layers of paint that she then digs through to discover rich new color. You’re going to be amazed at what comes from this exploration.

This video also includes:

  • A high-speed version of Karen’s demonstration painting
  • Digital gallery of some of her best artwork

Watch Karen’s full painting demonstration and you’ll enjoy the thrill of the wildly colored underpainting she starts with. Then she’ll show you how to move into more controlled layering techniques. You’ll see it’s impossible to mess up because of the flexible and forgiving nature of acrylics.

Karen shows you the value of following good design principles so your work remains superb and allows you to stand out from the crowd.

An excellent instructor!

I've taken a course with Karen Knutson and have seen her demonstrate in person many times at the San Diego Watercolor Society. While I think that you should never miss a chance to take a class with her in person and have notes from the class, I bought this video because she packs so much information into a class that I wanted to be able to watch, rewind, and watch again to better take in her thoughts and ideas on composition and design, and watch her techniques in refining a painting. She distills complex, previously confusing painting decisions into simple, straightforward ones. Her extensive experience also means that she saves the student a LOT of time with experimenting with things that don't work. If she has a fault, it is that she makes it all seem too easy ... but that's why, again, this video offers the student a means to rewind and watch it again. There's a lot of information packed into this video! Even though I've taken this class in person, I'm enjoying watching it again and marveling at how generous she is with her ideas and suggestions. Even if you're a "realistic" painter, you will gain ideas and might be inclined to creatively branch out with what you learn video. She shows you, step-by-step, how you can create an imaginative, creative piece of work. Thank you for making this video, Karen!

Excellent tutorial for mixed media!

Karen Knutsen is an excellent instructor who truly loves what she does. I've had the privilege of taking in person workshops with her on several occasions and watching the DVD feels like I'm right there in person with her again. Karen is an amazing person who loves sharing her knowledge with others. She is one of 5he most down to earth instructors I've ever met. She's open and willingly shares her immense knowledge of mixed media and truly r3veks in her student's success! This DVD is a must buy! You'll be glad you did!
